Bland empty room transformed into a stunning classic & contemporary lounge
This lounge was tricky.
It had great space and great light but it was a long rectangle and the position of the fireplace reduced the number of lay out options that would work.
Although the rest of the house was contemporary and minimalist in style the brief for this room was “a haven for adults to shut the door and get some peace from the children” and “a mix of classic and contemporary in style”.
The dove grey carpet was already there and that dictated the colour scheme. A range of different tones of grey were used throughout the room to achieve a sophisticated look and touches of black were added for depth.
All of the seating was arranged around the fireplace (the focal point of the room) in a way that gave the room structure and a bit of a wow factor with the central light and four little cashmere silver studded stools. Two console tables were added to provide structure and to provide space to display stylish, decorative items.
A large rectangular mirror was positioned on the end wall to widen the room and increase the light. Finally, black and silver curtains were hung together with black gloss radiator covers to complete the look.
