This house had a two-storey outbuilding with a garage and 3 rooms, one at the back of the garage and 2 above. The 2 rooms above the garage were used as storage.

The brief was to change the 3 rooms into a teenage suite consisting of gym, games room and “sleep-over” room.

The budget was strictly £1,500 (including all new furniture for bedroom and games room)

The rooms were emptied, repainted and flooring laid. The original wooden flooring was kept for the gym, a neutral low cost carpet was laid in the bedroom and wood-effect laminate was laid in the games room.

The existing bed was repaired and dressed with fresh linen and stag cushions and little stag heads (£5 each) were hung on each side of the room to create a stag/hunter theme.

An easel that had been found when emptying the room was used to display a stag canvas and 2 small standing trays with cookie jars were added. Curtains were hung to make the room feel cosy and a little sheepskin rug (£12.99) was added. The “toffee highland stool” was made at zero cost using a wooden toadstool found in the garage and some faux sheepskin.

In the games room, a snooker table (£399) and two faux leather fold down beds were added (£49.99 each). The children’s PS4 console and TV was brought into the games room together with a fridge (that had been in the garage) for cold drinks. A funky rhinoceros head was added together with some funky canvases for fun.
